On this video I aim to find the the circumstances of a space capsule which is rotating around the sun on a 48 hour orbit. This is done with a motorised mechanism rotating the light slowly. The plant lives inside this capsule.

Tällä kokeella yritän löytää kasveille avaruuskapselin valaisun kaltaiset olosuhteet, jossa valo kiertää kapselia noin 48 tuntia, joka voisi olla jonkin toisen planeetan vuorokausi.  Kasvi elää näin omalla kiertoradallaan omassa irrallisessa ajassaan.

The plants are growing on a motorised rotating platform with the camera. The rotation is accelerating and plants are finding their foot on this new gravity.

Two plants are growing inside a transparent cube. When they grow out of it, they are soon to be contained to an another cube. The pile of cubes grow as the plants grow.

2 kasvia kasvaa läpinäkyvien kuutioiden sisällä. Kasvaessaan ne nostavay kuutioiden kannet pois, jolloin niiden päälle ilmestyy uusi kuutio, uuden kannean kanssa. Kuutioiden torni kasvaa samalla kasvien kanssa.

Plants grow in the middle of a space where light comes from three different angles. The entire structure has been rotated at regular intervals, so that the top and bottom sides change to three different positions. In the video, this is visible in the changes in the plants' growth direction.

Kasvit kasvavat keskellä tilaa, jossa valo tulee kolmesta eri kulmasta. Rakennelmaa on käännetty kokonaisuudessaan säännöllisin ajoin, niin että ylä- ja alapuoli muuttuvat kolmeen eri kohtaan. Videolla tämä näkyy kasvien kasvun suunnan muutoksissa.

Labyrinth was growing with plants for 5 months. I wanted to see what kind of solutions would plants find growing through labyrinth. They would have to make choices. During this time there was several changes of power, drama and death, but also new young ones which would eventually take over.

Labyrintissä kasvoi kilpailevia kasveja 5:n kuukauden ajan. Halusin nähdä millaisia valintoja kasvit tekevät edetessään labyrintissä. 5:n kuukauden aikana tapahtui paljon draamaa, kasvukilpailuja, vahvimman kasvin valloittaessa tilan tukahduttaen muut, saman vahvemman kasvin kuihtuminen ja nuorempien kasvien nousu ja tilan valloitus.

Aim of the experiment was to get the plants to make ‘a mechanical movement’ in a way that they would be somehow operating the instrument. And they did.
